• Kuriosity: Both DMP and SuBLime have announced a series of new BL licenses; they are all scheduled for print releases.
• Animate USA releases its list of February 2012 manga releases for the Kindle, including new Youka Nitta and a new work by Kou Yoneda.
• Ogiue Maniax rolls on with its Fujoshi Files series: the latest, Takako of Fujoshi No Honkai, is a fujoshi since birth and very open with fellow fujoshi.
• Comics Alliance looks at three American-made boys' love manga, including my most favorite yaoi webcomics: Teahouse and Artifice.

• Kinkitty at The Hooded Utilitarian reviews Yakuza Cafe by Shinano Oumi, a story of love and crappy tea.
• Connie at Slightly Biased Manga reviews the first volume of Close The Last Door by Yugi Yamada, in which there are many lushes about and a lot of developed characters.
• Danica at OtakuUSA reviews the first volume of Only Serious About You by Asou Kai and greatly enjoys the romantic elements in it.

This week on Fujoshi O'Clock:

• About.com Manga reports that SuBLime Manga, Viz's BL imprint, has released their first digital-only yaoi titles. These include Love Pistols and Husband, Honeymoon, as well as several one-shots.
• On the heels of that, fans have noticed that SuBLime releases contain some censorship, like the infamous glowing shapes slapped on boys' genitals.
• Kuriosity: Digital Manga has licensed another new title, Shoko Takaku's "I've Seen It All, about a doctor who specializes in male equipment of a certain sort. Sounds like fun.

• Connie at Slightly Biased Manga reviews Bed Of My Dear King by Sakae Kusama and Entangled Circumstances by Kikoku Kikuya.
• Animemiz reviews Healing Music by Tatsumi Kaiya, a Digital Manga Guild release, and finds it an enjoyable read.
• Wolfen at Sequential Tart reviews the first volume of Husband, Honeymoon by Haruka Minami, which turns out to be an enjoyable "guilty pleasure" read.
• In case you missed it, Sarah at Nagareboshi Reviews (!!!) reviews Emirain's Teahouse chapter one, which was absolutely fantastic.

Welcome to the Teahouse, where a motley bunch are ready to serve in and out of the bed. Enter Sir Rhys, a regular client who has turned The Teahouse upside down with his blunt put-downs and skilled moves. Will he choose shy virgin Rory, or the ladies' favorite Axis? Axis is hoping he won't have to service Sir Rhys again, but he can't get him out of his head! What will happen when these two opposites meet again in the bedroom?

If you know me and know this blog, you know I love boys' love webcomics - and that my favorite by far is Teahouse by Emirain, which I not only crow about on a regular basis through Fujoshi O'Clock but even awarded the top slot of my favorite yaoi reads of 2011. So when Emirain came to Bishiecon 2011 as our main artist guests of honor, I knew I would have to buy a physical copy of the first chapter of my favorite BL web story - and I did! My copy was even signed!

And for ten bucks? It was totally worth it. Some might think buying physical hardcopies of webcomics is a waste of money, but I would argue quite the opposite! Considering all the yummy extras Emirain put into this slim volume, it was more than worth the cost, and I can't wait to pick up the next two chapters in this ongoing series.

This week on Fujoshi O'Clock:

• Yaoi Club shares OtakuUSA's recent reviews of some eManga.com BL titles, including My Sempai and Attacker On A Tiger's Whim.
• The BL webcomic Teahouse's online shop is open again! The third chapter's print version will be available in March. You can now buy items like stationary, charms, and special editions of the first and second chapters.
• Something that has crossed this fujoshi's radar is Jo Chen's BL circle GUILT | PLEASURE, filled with lots of tasty art and stories from Jo Chen.
• Ogiue Maniax's Fujoshi Files continues with Fujoko of Fujoshi No Hinkaku whose room is covered in BL items - hiding the even more hardcore items underneath the surface.
• Kuriosity: Animate U.S.A. has added several new titles to the Kindle for January 2012, including new works by Youka Nitta and You Higashino.
• AnimeNation News Blog: Studio Prime Time+ will be creating an OVA adaptation of Isaku Natsume's manga Tight-rope; it's to be two episodes long.

Reviews:

• Matthew of No Flying No Tights reviews Cafe Latte Rhapsody by Toko Kawai and finds the cast very easy to relate to (although his ideas of what constitutes yaoi isn't exactly spot-on).
• Connie at Slightly Biased Manga reviews Boys With Tomorrow To Conquer by Satoru Ishihara, a Digital Manga Guild title, and can't wait for volume two.
• Sakura Eries at The Fandom Post reviews My Girlfriend's A Geek volume five by Rize Shinba - which, to remind those wondering why it's included, is about a girl who is a fujoshi and her non-BL boyfriend.

•  ふう子 at Hazukashii Kedo does her BL 'year in review' for 2011, looking back at her favorite BL manga, manga-kas, and couples of the past year.
• At Boys' Luv.com, Lissa also does her manga favorites of 2011 list, which includes a few boys' love picks as well.
• Oguie Maniax continues its Fujoshi Files with Takayo of the manga Fujoshi no Hinkaku, an office worker who even carries a daily planner for fujoshi events.
• And with their latest update, the third chapter of Teahouse is complete and will be on hiatus until the 18th of January. My heart, she yearns for more Teahouse!
• SuBLime, Viz's yaoi imprint, has their e-newsletter available for sign-up; all they require is your e-mail address and date of birth.

• Connie at Slightly Biased Manga reviews A Truthful Picture by Sumako Kari, one of the releases by the Digital Manga Guild currently available on eManga's website.

Favorite Yaoi Reads Of 2011

Listen y'all, I love me some boys' love media. Does that surprise you? It shouldn't! Any blog with a weekly feature for fujoshi lovin' is bound to do one of those 'best of' lists for 2011 - and so I shall. And with the exception of number five (dang it, why won't someone license this already?), they are all very much accessible in English through legit channels either online or via hard copies in graphic novel form.

Below is five of my most favorite BL-flavored reads that I had the pleasure of experiencing this year, both in terms of manga and webcomics. Enjoy!

5. NURSE GA OSHIGOTO by Lily Hoshino.

Earlier this year, I rediscovered the magic of Lily Hoshino's works - and one of them was Nurse Ga Oshigoto, a collection of super smutty one-shots that mostly revolved around the cute boys that work in hospitals and the older guys who like teasing them until they blush and then some. It's certainly a welcome break from the angst on this list, as it is adorable and sexy and a great read.

Scanlations of this are available . . . well, I'm sure y'all know how to find things like that. Just be sure to support the license if a North American distributor ever picks it up.

Fujoshi O'Clock: Bishiecon Cabaret 2011 Edition

So - Bishiecon Cabaret 2011! December 17-18 at the Crowne Plaza Clayton in Saint Louis, Missouri! The best darn boys' love/yaoi convention in the Midwest!

I'll be there! So here's the million dollar question: who's going too?

W-what? Y'all don't know why you should come?

First of all, we are awesome. Everyone on staff is amazing and we always put 150% of our hearts and bodies into every convention we run - Bishiecon especially cause we just love it that much!

We are a niche local convention. We are the -only- yaoi convention in the Midwest! The only other yaoi con in the United States I can think of is the king of BL cons, YaoiCon, which is in California. What better way to support your local fannish efforts than to come to Bishiecon and be a badge-carrying con-goer for two gloriously naughty days?

We're 18+ this year! All day, every day! Everything is 18+ only! DICK CANDLES ON THE TABLES, Y'ALL. Note: I have yet to see these fabled dick candles, but I'm sure they will be glorious.

We have guests, glorious guests! Like Emirain, creators of the yaoi webcomic Teahouse! Warky T. Chocobo, musician and yaoi comedian (he performed at last year's Bishiecon and he was hilarious)! Our special performer, Gorgeous Phineas: Strip Magician! And maybe more to come!

We have lots of awesome events! Including a Yaoi AMV contest and a Saturday night dance with a kickass light show! And karaoke, natch - can't have Bishiecon without karaoke.

So, seriously, if you aren't busy during then, come on and have fun at Bishiecon! Tell all your yaoi-loving friends too. Heck, tell the ones that don't love yaoi as much; even non-fujoshi can have fun at Bishiecon! Pre-registration price is sitting pretty at 20 bucks - 35 if you want to have Sunday morning brunch with our lovely guests. And I would advise to GET DAT BRUNCH PASS NOW, because the Plaza has amazing food - and the brunch pass won't be available at the door!

• (via Boys' Luv.com) Digital Manga Publishing has gone mobile with their recent entry into the Apple App Store and Android Market, making it that much easier to read DMP manga on your Droid or iPad.
• At the Manga Curmudgeon's blog, David continues his Favorites Alphabet of manga with 'I', including the Fumi Yoshinaga BL romance Ichigenme.
• Boys' Luv.com reports on the latest newsletter by DMP, which included among other things new BL manga licenses and the announcement of a Kickstarter program to bring back an out-of-print title.
• ふう子 at Hazukashii Kedo posts covers for several new manga releases, including one by blog favorite est em, and talks about some upcoming 2011 tankoubon titles.
• Teahouse Comics has been updated with page 22 of chapter 3, in which Linneus is getting it on with a certain client. Possibly NSFW, although nothing terribly explicit.

Reviews:

• Connie at Slightly Biased Manga reviews volume 4 of Kizuna by Kazuma Kodaka, and is not the biggest fan of Masa/Kai due to the age gap and Kai's previous traumas.
• She also reviews Black Knight volume 1 by Kai Tsurugi, which she loved.
• David at the Manga Curmudgeon reviews Only Serious About You volume 1 by Asou Kai, and finds it quite the lovely experience.

Fujoshi O'Clock: The NYAF & Webcomic Edition

This week on Fujoshi O'Clock, from NYAF:

• Sunday had Viz Media announcing its license of Yun Kouga's Loveless, a license rescue from Tokyopop's enormous list of dropped/lost licenses post-initial closing. There are no plans to republish the first eight volumes, only the two that Tokyopop failed to release.
• W-wait, that's it? How disappointing. Still, better than nothing!

Webcomics!:
Note: Assume any and all links below this are NSFW. Enter at your own discretion! Hurr, that's what he said!

• Emirain's story of the men and ladies of the night at the classiest of brothels, Teahouse, is a must read. The art is gorgeous, the sex scenes steamy as hell, and the Teahouse itself is populated with a truly colorful cast of character, from the foulmouthed punk Axis to the smirking pervert and resident troll-face Mercutio.
• Shiei and Adam Arnold's new yaoi fangirl classic Aoi House is about two boys thinking they've made it big when they find residency in a house of fangirls - except they just so happen to be fujoshi of the most wicked-minded kind! So imagine two straight dudes moving into a dorm run by Bishiecon staff members ;P Don't forget the panty hamster!
• Alex Woolfson and Winona Nelson have a surefire hit on their hands with the BL-friendly sci-fi thriller Artifice. Deacon is a machine, created by man to go on missions and kill their chosen targets. He's not supposed to have emotions - so why is he so concerned with a stranger that crosses his path on a particular mission? Some real powerful stuff, Artifice.
